I'm Theresa Chan, the photographer and filmmaker behind Resa Film. More than anything, I love what happens when people stop thinking about the camera — that's when the real magic begins.

Resa — from the Swedish word for journey. It felt right. Because that's exactly what this has been: a journey across oceans, into a new life, and deeper into the craft I love. That's why I named it Resa Film.

I've always been drawn to emotion. The quiet smile between two people. The tears that come without warning. The joy that fills a room before anyone has time to hold it back. Being able to capture these moments is something I genuinely love — and knowing they'll last forever makes it even more meaningful.

What I enjoy most is creating something real for you. Every session is a chance to see you as you truly are, and give you photos that still move you years from now. When I see your smile through my lens, honestly — it makes my day too.

Your questions, answered

How do I book and what is the deposit?

Simply get in touch via the contact form or email, and we'll have a chat about your vision. To secure your date, a 25% deposit is required along with a signed contract. The remaining balance is due two weeks before your event.

How long until I receive my photos?

For weddings, you'll typically receive your gallery within 4–6 weeks. For family sessions and commercial shoots, turnaround is usually 2–3 weeks. I'll always keep you updated throughout the editing process.

How are the final photos delivered?

All photos are delivered via a private online gallery where you can view, download, and share your images. Depending on your package, a USB drive may also be included. Gallery links are typically active for 3 months.

Can I customise a package?

Absolutely. Every project is different, and I'm happy to create a custom package that suits your needs and budget. Just reach out and we'll find something that works perfectly for you.

How far in advance should I book?

For weddings, I recommend booking as early as possible — ideally 6 to 12 months in advance, as dates fill up quickly, especially during peak season (October to March). For family sessions and portrait shoots, 4 to 6 weeks in advance is usually sufficient.

What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?

A non-refundable deposit is required to secure your booking. If you need to reschedule, please notify me as early as possible. Rescheduling requests made more than 10 days before the session can usually be accommodated at no extra charge. Requests made within 10 days may incur a rescheduling fee.

Can I share my photos on social media?

Absolutely! You're welcome to share your images on social media. I'd love it if you could tag me when you do — it means the world and helps others find my work.

Do you travel for shoots?

Yes! I'm based in Marlborough but available throughout New Zealand and Australia. I also travel to Hong Kong for shoots. Travel costs may apply for locations outside Marlborough — please get in touch for a personalised quote.

Can we choose the location for our photo shoot?

Absolutely! I love collaborating with you to find a location that feels meaningful and beautiful. Whether it's a favourite spot, a meaningful place, or somewhere entirely new, I'm happy to make it work. I also know some stunning hidden gems across Marlborough and beyond — so if you'd like suggestions, I'm always happy to help you find the perfect setting for your shoot.
